Thanks to ColCaff a volunteer from Ireland XO I confirmed that my grandmother, Mary Cullinane, was born in Newtown, County Waterford. Sorry, Colcaff but my original message and your reply disapeared off my computer, I hope this message reaches ColCaff.

My Great Grandfather, John Cullinane and Great Grandmother mother Elizabeth Moore lived on a Newtown farm and later moved to Bishopstown, Mothel, approx, 6 miles to the north. I am now tracing my Cullinane Family from the Newtown / Kilmacthomas area.  There is a Rossmire Catholic Civil Parish which I have joined but the boundries of the parish change through time.  Does this Cullinane name from Rossmore,Newtown and Kilmacthomas area bring up any Ideas. .

Newtown is also the home of the "Newtown Rebel Sisters".(Cullinane girls). Bridget, Hannah, Mary and Mother Catherine operated a Public House/groceries. During the Civil War. The Store was the centre for dispatches and a safe house for volunteers . The sisters acted as lookouts, gathered intelligence, hid and transported arms. They were eventually put in prison and also lost some of the men in their lives. I amd searching to see if they are part of my Cullinane family.  Does anyone know about these patriotic and brave girls family.
