Looking for siblings of my GGF William Carey. His father was James Carey and mother, Catherine Hinch. They were married in the Church of the Assumption, Delvlin in 1834 as was William and Mary Keogan in 1865.
I have no information about any brothers or sisters and would like to find some.
Thanks

Hi thanks for your message.
Have you tried looking through church records to see if there is any record of other births/baptisms in the family? Where to look for these depends on the religious denomination of the family. Most Catholic records are held locally. One website which may be of use to you is the Irishtimes website. Here they give an overview of what records are available in specific parishes. To see what is available in Castletowndelvin/Delvin parish follow this link:
For Church of Ireland Records, check http://ireland.anglican.org/about/42 and http://www.nationalarchives.ie/.
Did William emigrate to the US? If he did he could have travelled with some other members of his family. Maybe if you looked into this more it may help you find some information. A good place to start is the US National Archives information on Immigration. Here is the link:
http://www.archives.gov/research/immigration/
Some other websites that may help with your search are:
The National Archives of Ireland http://www.nationalarchives.ie/genealogy1/genealogy-records/introduction/
The National Library of Ireland http://www.nli.ie/en/family-history-introduction.aspx
and Family Search: https://familysearch.org/
I hope this helps you. Remember to post as much information as you can with regard to the people you are researching. The more information you post, the more likely it is that one of our volunteers will be able to advise or assist you. Also include information concerning which sources you may have already used so others may further your search.
Please be patient - as our programme has only begun to rollout across the island of Ireland and volunteers in some areas may not yet be organized.
Kind regards,
