Hi - am looking for any information about Hackett relatives who have lived in this area, related to Michael Chas. Hackett (my great, great grandfather) born 9/29/1818 and married to Catherine Donovan. He emigrated to the U.S. around 1847-1851. His 3 children born in the US were John E. Hackett (1854), Michael C. Hackett Jr. (1856 - my great grandfather) and Mary Francis Hackett (1859). He married a second time to Helen Hanorah and had 3 more children (Elizabeth, Agnus and Edward). Michael C. Hackett Jr. settled in Indiana. We will be arriving in Ireland next week and want to come experience the area and contact any known relatives there! Cheers, Jackie

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
We do not have a parish liaison in Castletownkindalen parish. The RC parish of Castletown-Geoghegan has records starting in 1829. http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0913 The 1854 Griffiths Valluation head of household listing for Castletownkindalen parish did show a James Hackett in Castletown and Patrick Hackett in Cloonagh. Both could be connected to Michael Hackett.

I assume the marriage occurred in the USA since Donovan is almost exclusively a Co. Cork surname.
I did not see any Hacketts in the area in the online Irish phone book which is only a partial list of phone users.
When your return from Ireland, you may want to consider autosomal DNA testing.
Have a great trip!
