Hi; I am looking for information on my gr.-gr.-gr- grandfather Nicholas Jordan and his family who were in Athlone until about 1834, when they came to Canada.
Nicholas was born between 1872 and 1887 and according to family history was baptized in St. Mary's R.C. church in the Barony of Browney. I don't know anything about his family. Depending on which family history you read, he was either a shoe maker or a stone mason. He married Rachel Johnson about 1813. Rachel came from a prominent protestant family, and apparently they were married by the Fransicans.
NIcholas and Rachel had 8 children that I know of, in Athlone. I have MIchael's 1815 baptismal record, and James 1818 baptismal record. Younger(?) siblings were John, William, Peter, Mary (B. 1818--1820), Anne (b. ca. 1822), and Patrick b. ca. 1833). They apparently attended St. Mary's church regularly.
Any assistance would be most appreciated.
