I'm reasonably sure Ellen Hogan was born in Bree about 1821 and came to Sydney aborad the Rodney on 15 March 1854. She arrived with her husband, Thomas Kenny (he may have been from Davidstown) and their four children - May (11 yrs), James (10 yrs), Ellen (8 yrs) & Patrick (5 yrs). Both her parents were listed as deceased, so it would be good to know who they are. Ellen died in Sydney on 24 Sept 1873.
Thanks for any help.
Regards,
Greg Smith, Perth.

Hi,
Ellen's parents were Peter Hogan and Ellen Doyle. Her brother was my direct ancestor. His name was John Hogan and he married Catherine Regan. The family came to Australia in 1841. That may be why Ellen and Thomas came later.

Hi and thanks, Pauleen. Seems we are related. Your information at least confirms I am on the right track. You wouldn;t have more information on the Doyles, please? I am on Ancestry.com, with the user name gregingero. I am in Perth. Thanks and Regards, Greg.

Hi Greg
I am away at present so will send more info next week
I don't have anything on the Doyles but if you check the Bree parish registers on National Library of Ireland there were a lot of them there
A David Doyle married Catherine Regan's sister Margaret in Bree in 1839 and they both died in Paddington Sydney in the 1880s so a lot of the extended family came here
More next week
