G'day. I'm really excited to find this web site as my paternal great grandmother, Anastasia Hennessy, came from County Wexford, and if I can read the writing on one official document, was born in Enniscorthy.

Her parents were Richard Hennessy and Sarah Green. Richard was described as a farmer on a document in 1879 and in 1900 was a miller.

Anastasia  arrived in "Australia" in approximately 1865, so she was about 15 years old.   Where  Anastasia arrived in the country and with who is a mystery.

Hopefully, someone will have information at the Irish end and I can provide more details on her life here.

A Sarah Hennessy, daughter of Joseph H and Harriet Maxted Woodruff has a close connection.

Fingers crossed.

Wendy

  • Hi Wendy,

Many thanks for posting this message on the Ireland Reaching Out website. I hope that you can connect with someone who has information about Anastasia's family.

Remember to post any new information that you come across, as the more information you post, the more likely it is that one of our volunteers will be able to advise or assist you. Also include information concerning which sources you may have already used so others may further your search.

Please be patient - as our programme has only begun to rollout across the island of Ireland and volunteers in some areas may not yet be organized.

    Kind regards,
