Hello All
I'm hoping somebody can help me get a little further in my family tree. My father's family descend from Wexford, and so far I've pinpointed the search to Butlerstown in Kilscoran.
My grandfather was Thomas Delaney, born on 14th February 1925 to parents Catherine (Kate) Doyle (nee White) and Thomas Delaney. Kate had previously been married to a John Doyle who I believe died around 1918, although I have no idea of the circumstances of his death. They had children together before his death, then Kate married Thomas Delaney in 1919 and went on to have more children, including my grandfather.
My grandfather's father, Thomas Delaney, was born around 1886 and on the 1901 census, at the age of 15, was living with his widowed father (also named Thomas, born around 1841), his elder sister Mary (born 1873) and a family of lodgers named Moloney in Butlerstown, Kilscoran. His father is described as working as and agricultural labourer.
By the 1911 census it seems his father had also passed away, as Thomas was now living with his older brother John Delaney, born 1877 in Butlerstown. John was also widowed by this time. The house they live in is described as '2nd class' with a stable and a chicken house and 2 windows in the front - I love the level of detail!
The information I have about their mother is hazy. At the moment I have her down as Mary Cardiff but I have no other information about her family, her year of birth/death etc, I just found a marriage between a Thomas Delaney and Mary Cardiff around the time they would've been married (1871, prior to having their first child) and went with it being her, I could be totally wrong.
Going back to Kate Doyle (White) - my grandfather's mother - and my grandfather's father, Thomas - my dad is able to tell me that they remained in Butlerstown after their marriage and that is where my grandfather was raised before he moved to Dundalk to marry, and then to England with his own family. Kate stayed in the same house in Butlerstown and my dad recalls being terrified of her when they visited! I have Kate's mother down as Catherine White and father as Nicholas White, hailing from the same area, but again, no other info on them.
My grandfather returned to Wexford after his retirement, settling in Broadway. He died in September 1989.
So, in summary, I guess any information anyone has on the Delaneys, Doyles, Cardiffs and Whites of Butlerstown that might link to my tree would be very gratefully received. Also if anybody has anymore info on Thomas Delaney born 1841 to enable me to get further back I would be over the moon.
Thankyou so much!

Not sure if there is a connection but an 78 year old Catherine White died in Butlerstown in 1934. Would not be the mother of your gf.

Two possible baptismal records for Thomas Delaney Sr. I would guess he was older than the 60 in the 1901 census.
