Hi Maudlintown,
It has taken me 64 years to get this far, hopefully I will be able to continue along this road!
My name is John Powell. My mother, Ellen Josephine Byrne, was born on March 6, 1919 at Maudlintown to Mary Byrne (formerly Murphy) and John Byrne of Maudlintown.
My mother's birth certificate tells me that present at the birth was Kate Walsh, also of Maudlintown.
That name resonates with me as I have fond memories of Jackie Walsh and his wife Kath from my early childhood living in Hampstead, London, with my mother and her husband Fred Powell. I think that Jackie and Kath returned to Wexford from London.
Another close family member was Molly Bannister (her married name).
If any of this information is of interest or rings a bell with anyone in Maudlintown, I'd love to hear from you as I am more or less completely in the dark about my Irish ancestry,
