I am looking for any information on, or relatives of, the family of Sargeant Patrick Troy of New Ross. Sgt Troy was born in Dublin but served in the RIC in New Ross. He was married to Ellen Leahy, duaghter of John Leahy, who was born in Kilkenny. Patrick and Ellen had the following children:
Elizabeth Troy, b.17DEC1864 Carrickbyrne, Wexford
Patrick William, b. 27May1866 New Ross (my grandfather)
John James, b.03Jul1868 New Ross
Michael Luke, b. 21Jul1870 Wexford
Maria Teresa, b.16Jul1872 Wexford
Ellen Troy, b. 29Oct1875 Wexford
Martha, b.26Apr1877 Wexford
There is one more, birth record not as yet found:
Mary Julia, b. ca 1869 according to the 1911 census. Must have been between Apr69 and Sep69, by the birth date of the children before/after her.
We believe that 4 of the children died during infancy/childhood. We know that Patrick William, Mary Julia, and Maria Teresa survived to adulthood, and we think Elizabeth did as well but have not found the proof as yet. Grandfather Patrick William went to sea as a young boy and eventually married and raised a large family in Australia.
