Hello Volunteer of Reaching Out,
First, thank you for offering this service. I've been trying to find my grandfather's relatives for years, even traveling to Ballycullane (where I believe he was born) and coming up with nothing.
My grandfather, Aiden Paul Murphy, was born 31 January 1878 (according to his American Death certificate). My father told me that he believed he came from New Ross. Any information on him would be greatly appreciated, especially since I was named after him.
Thank you,
Paul Murphy

Hi Paul,
Thanks for your message. I hope that someone with information makes a connection with you and helps you to further your research.
As Aidan was born after civil registration began in Ireland you should be able to find his birth record. If you can find this it will confirm place of origin. Civil records are available from the General Register?s Office. Here are their contact details:

You can search the indexes to these records up to 1958 online at:

Do you know anything else about his family? I did a search for Aidan in the 1901 census records. There are a couple that match in terms of age. Perhaps if you know more about the familiar you may know if any of them are relevant:
