My 2nd great-grandfather, Richard Chamney (Born 1826 in County Wicklow)  immigrated to Canada and married Euphemia Mason.  Richard lived in East Wawanosh Township, Huron County, and died November 18, 1904.

I am looking for relatives who can help trace Richard's history.

Thank you.

    Hi,

Thank you for your message. I hope that someone recognises the family you are researching and makes a connection with you.

Perhaps it may also be a good idea to post your request in a more local forum, such as a local newspaper. This way it will be more likely that someone who knows the family you are researching will see it and connect with you. Some possible places you could do this are:

    Wicklow People: http://www.independent.ie/regionals/wicklowpeople/

    Bray people: http://www.independent.ie/regionals/braypeople/

County Wicklow Irish Genealogy Projects: http://www.igp-web.com/Wickow/index.html

I hope this suggestion is helpful. Best of luck with your research.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi Mary, I came across a message from you on the 'Ireland Reaching Out' site enquiring about the Chamney family tree. I do my family tree on www.ancestry.co.uk . My Chamney tree in Ireland goes back to 1600 and I was able to trace your Richard Chamney in it. His father was William Chamney 1776-1840. His father was John Chamney 1730-1789 who was a brother of my 5th great grand father Thomas Chamney. Their father was John Chamney and his father was also John Chamney. If their is any further info you require you may email me at alibt@hotmail.co.uk . Regards Alistair Beatty
