I am looking for my greatgrandmother, Margaret Walsh- her father was Bartholomew. She was born in July 1865

Her brother was Patrick and 2 sisters Rose and Catherine. They all emmigrated to New York in the early 1880's.

The gravestone said Patrick was from St Anna Parish, Cool.?... something.

Anyone have any info on this?

Thank you,

Terry

  • Coolcanadas and Coolnalitteragh are both in Annagh. Griffiths Valuation for 1857 has several Walsh households in that townland.

Coolcanadas & Coolnalitteragh fall within the Cootehill registration district. There?s just one Margaret Walsh birth registered there in 1865, Volume 13, page 173. So that might be your Margaret. You would need to get a copy to find out.

You can order a photocopy from GRO Roscommon for ?4 per certificate. Put the place, year, quarter (where there is one), volume & page number on the application form (anywhere). Don?t worry about leaving some boxes blank. You don?t need to fill them all in if you have the reference details. http://www.groireland.ie/ You have to post or fax the form to them but they will e-mail the copy certificate to you if you wish. Tick the relevant box on the form.

Alternatively you may find it on rootsireland?s site (pay to view).
