Searching for information regarding my 3x Gt Grandfather Andrew Burke and his son Richard Burke.
Andrew came to New Zealand via the Clifton in Jan 1848 with his two children Richard and Celia Jane as a fencible soldier (see http://www.nzfenciblesociety.org.nz/wawcs017827/about.html).
His wife Mary must have died between the birth of the children in 1845 (it appears they were twins) and the Clifton's departure in Sep 1847.
According to Andrew's army record he was born in the parish of Aghabog in the County of Monaghan by trade a Weaver.
He attested for the 63rd Regiment of Foot at Cootehill in the County of Cavan on the 9 Dec 1819, at the age of 18 years.
According to Richard's New Zealand death certificate he was born in County Cavan.
It would be great to find a record of birth/baptism and marriage for Andrew to identify his parents and who Mary was. Also a death/burial for Mary (based on information above this likely happened in County Cavan but I don't have a parish).

A quick search for Andrew Burke in Aghabog yeilded some information concerning his military pension at: https://familysearch.org/search/records/index#count=20&query=%2Bgivenname%3Aandrew~%20%2Bsurname%3ABurke~%20%2Bbirth_place%3Aaghabog~%20%2Bbirth_year%3A1790-1805~
You might also try spelling variations of the parish name,i.e. Aughabog. Killeevan is the Catholic parish associated with the area and information regarding it can be found here: http://www.libraryireland.com/topog/K/Killeevan-Dartry-Monaghan.php
Catholic church records for Killeevan can be found in the local church, National L:ibrary, the Public Records Office in Northern Ireland and for a fee from http://monaghan.rootsireland.ie/ .
Also check Kilskeery parish records, also available from https://familysearch.org
You could try checking the land records called the Tithe Aphttps://familysearch.org/locationsplotment Books (1823-38) or the later Griffith's Valuation (1848-64).
