Bickford, William born abt. 1784 in Wexford

It might be helpful to post as much information as you can regarding the family you are researching. Including sources you may have already used. The more information you post - the more likely it is that one of our volunteers will be able to assist or advise you. 

Do you know much about their emigration? Dates-reasons they left-who they travelled with-which port they arrived at - etc? Often more information was given at the port of arrival than the port of departure. If you knew their port of arrival -it might be an avenue to further information.

Looking for William Bickford, born abt. 1783, presumably in Wexford, Ireland & married to Mary (Ellen) Unknown, born abt. 1804 in Scotland.  They are first recorded in the 1851 Census of Fitzroy Township, Carleton County, Ontario, Canada West - this would be around Ottawa today.  They have 6 children at the time of the census and it says that all the children were born in Canada although their oldest child's (Benjamin - born abt. 1834)  marriage registration says Benjamin was born in Ireland.  This seems highly unlikely as Ellen was born in Scotland - although, I guess Ellen could have gone to Ireland or William to Scotland to get married, have a child in Ireland, & then emigrate to Canada?  Their children are: Benjamin (b. abt. 1834), Ellen (b. abt. 1837), twins: Sarah & Margaret (b. abt. 1839), Harry (b. abt. 1843), & Isabella (b. abt. 1847). 

William (died bef. 1871) & Ellen (died aft. 1871)  in Fitzroy Township.  Benjamin Bickford married Mary Ann Hurd in Ottawa City, Ontario, Canada abt. 1859.  Henry Bickford married Jane Dean. 

William & Ellen BIGFORD are listed in the 1861 census also - same location as 1851 - although their surname is spelled incorrectly.  In the 1871 census, Ellen is a widow & living with her son & his wife, Henry & Jane Bickford.

My family has a William Bickford form Wexford County born in 1784 who marries Ellen (no last name)born 1806. They have a daughter Margaret born 1848 in Fitzroy, Ontario who marries a James Peever... Does fit into your puzzle ?
