I believe my ancestor, Martin Corley, was born sometime around 1806 in Ahascragh. I am interested in verifying his birth date and the names of his parents, if he had siblings, and if descendants of his parents are still living in Ahascragh. His parents may have been Daniel and Mary (Moulton) Corley. After coming to the US, he became a river boat captain on the Genesee River in Rochester, New York, married Sarah Bigelow in 1837 or 1838, and moved to Bureau County, Illinois where he purchased farmland in 1841. He had 10 children and owned a farm of 480 acres when he died in 1873. He was elected in 1876 and 1877 to be a member of the Board of Supervisors representing his township, Westfield, in Bureau County, Illinois.

Hi Patricia
Do you know much about his emigration? Dates, the reason why he left, who he may have travelled with, etc.? Generally more information was given at the port of arrival rather than the port of departure. If you knew which city they arrived at (e.g. Liverpool), this could be a good place to find more information.
You can try posting as much information as you can regarding the people you are researching - the more information you post, the more likely it is that one of our volunteers will be able to assist you.
