Searching for information regarding my 4x Gt Grandfather James LYNCH and his wife Jane HOMES.
James came to New Zealand via the Sir Robert Sale in 1847 with his wife and four children Esther, John, Christopher and Margaret as a fencible soldier (see http://www.nzfenciblesociety.org.nz/wawcs017827/about.html).
I have James' army record from Findmypast which gives his place of birth as Maryborough. I could not find a parish for Maryborough so I hope Portlaoise is the correct place to post. James attested on 11 June 1825 at Tullamore for the 59th Foot Regiment aged 18.
James had two more children, James in Jane in Auckland, New Zealand and died on 10 Dec 1864.
I would be greatful to hear from anyone with information about this family.
Kind regards,
Sarah Knowles

Have no way of knowing if any Lynch is connected, but the first Lynch interred in Portlaoise graveyard after it opened in 1897 was
William Lynch; 24, labourer, single, Lester Lane, 26/1/1909 (buried by friends)
