My grandfather (3x) Michael Kelly married Mary Stines and moved into a house in Plunketstown Lower which is now a garden shed, in 1790. They had a son, among other children, named Silvester who was one of the group of children to come to America in 1863. A few years ago, Michael Wall told me that I'd be related to half the people in any pub in Castledermot. With that in mind, I'd like to "meet" any or all of those cousins to re-connect our family. I probably won't be able to make "the Gathering" next year but would enjoy a gathering here. Kevin Kelley

  • Hi

    Thank you for your message.

I have forwarded your query to a volunteer who may be able to offer some advice or assistance.

In the meantime- Remember to post as much information as you can with regard to the people you are researching. The more information you post, the more likely it is that one of our volunteers will be able to advise or assist you. Also include information concerning which sources you may have already used so others may further your search.

Please be patient - as our programme has only begun to rollout across the island of Ireland and volunteers in some areas may not yet be organized.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi! Narraghmore,

I've been thinking hard about what I want, as you asked. In past messages, I've asked to know of cousins in the Castledermot area or any info on ancestors beyond Michael Kelly who married Mary Stines in 1790.( I was wrong in the original message). I met Michael Wall in 2008 and drove out to Plunketstown Lower with him. During that drive, he told me that I'd be related to half of the people in any pub in Castledermot and I have met Deidre Kelly on line who told me of her uncles, whom Michael mentioned and the old cottage and the new house. So, at this point I can only ask to get to know more relatives of the old homested. Any info from 18th century will probably take much more investigation.

Thanks for your help, Kevin Kelley
