I am seeking information on my maternal great great grandfather Michael E Fitzgerald born at Whitegate,Cork , Ireland on 12 Apr 1838 and who immegrated to the US. He fied in Iowa about 1885. His parents were William born in 1818 in Kilkummin, Kerry, Ireland, and his wife, my great great grandmother was Hanorah Lincan born in 1819. I have no information on her area of birth.
Michael and his family came to the US eventually farming in Illionois and then moving with the rail roads to Iowa. It was there he died after a fire in which he died, following a stroke. His son my great grandfather , was Edward Fitzgerald, who was born in Illinois and died in Denver Colorado, where I live. I have lengthy information on my grandmother Agnes, the daughter of Edward and Sarah Lappin Fitzgerald. As well as Edward's siblings and their families.
If you can help please message me

Hi
Here are a couple of websites that may be of interest to you...
You could try checking the land records called the Tithe Applotment Books (1823-38) http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/home.jsp
or the later Griffith's Valuation (1848-64) http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/
or the Church of Latter Day Saints (LDS) https://familysearch.org/
Also this website may be of interest to youhttp://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/surname/ .
Please make sure you link anyone else in your family who is interested in their Irish heritage to our site - and indeed anyone else you know of Irish heritage.
