Hi,
Thanks for your message.
Have you tried searching through church records for some information on the families? Most Catholic records are held locally. One website which may be of use to you is the irishtimes website where they give an overview of what records are available in specific parishes. For the Ardfield parish follow this link:
For Church of Ireland records you can check http://ireland.anglican.org/about/42 and http://www.nationalarchives.ie/
You could also check the Griffith's Valuation for some reference to the family. This was a land survey carried out throughout the country between 1848 and 1864. If you could fin the family in these records at least it would confirm that they were in the area for the time period. You can do a search of Griffiths Valuation here:
http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/
Also, if you haven't done so already, you could check the 1901 and 1911 census records here:
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/
Some other websites which may help you in your search are:
The National Archives of Ireland http://www.nationalarchives.ie/genealogy1/genealogy-records/introduction/
The National Library of Ireland http://www.nli.ie/en/family-history-introduction.aspx
The National Archives UK ? genealogy search: http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/records/looking-for-person/
The Public Records Office of Northern Ireland http://www.proni.gov.uk/index/family_history.htm
Family Search: https://familysearch.org/
If you have any other information on the family you should post it. Information such as first names, parents names, any siblings they may have had, occupations etc. The more information you post, the more likely it is that one of our volunteers will be able to advise or assist you. Also include information concerning which sources you may have already used so others may further your search.
Please be patient - as our programme has only begun to rollout across the island of Ireland and volunteers in some areas may not yet be organized.
Kind regards,
Genealogy Support
