Do you know the names of his parents? All of this information will help when determining what records are relevant to your search.

I have some information on a Michael McVay because I had a Y-chromosome DNA test done that matched me to a Michael McVay, who was born about 1770 Ballyfrench, Co. Down, and married Jane Palmer 20th Nov. 1790 [by special licence] in Glastry Prebysterian Church, In the Parish of Innishargie, Co. Down. Son is Michael McVea b 1791 Ballyfrench, Portavogie, m. His descendent and I are not closely related even though McVey/McVay is certainly not a commom surname. My G2 grandfather was Joseph McVay, born 1828 in County Derry and emigrated to Johnstown, PA where he was a coalminer.
