John Davis, a coach builder working in Birr and Dublin, was the son of John Davis and Judith Milen. About 1810 he married Catherine Morris in Birr, and the couple had at least six children. Michael, born 1811, was also a coach builder in Dublin; Patrick, born 1819; John, born 1821, was the heir of the wealthy ex convict William Davis, the Wexford Pikemaker, and emigrated to Australia in 1841; Catherine, born 1825, who also travelled to Australia; Mary Ann, born 1826, who emigrated 1851, and married a companion she met on board, Robert Knowles Waters from Limerick, when the ship arrived in Australia; and James Morris, born 1829, who married a Davis cousin and produced a large family in Sydney. John the elder is thought to have died in Dublin in 1857. Those who emigrated have large numbers of descendants living now in Australia.
