Hello

My grandmother (paternal) , Margaret Maureen Smullen, came from Drogheda on the Boyne and must have been born between 1880 and 1895.

She married a journalist (Saturday Evening Post) who was born and based in Holland but worked internationally. He was my Paternal grandfather (Jan Pieter Hendrik {or Henderik} Reijers {or Reyers})

Their marriage was celebrated (possibly as a semi-official function) in New York in about 1910.

She died in the Netherlands in about 1950-53.

I would like to trace her (origin and relationships with other members of the Smullen family) with a view to applying for Irish Citizenship.

I currently live in the UK, in Lincoln and am 65 years old.

Thank you, in anticipation.

  • Hi Fred,

I see that you have added your grandmothers surname here, which is helpful.

I did a search for a Margaret Smullen in the census records. Results came back for both Louth and Meath. If you know her parents names and/or siblings this should help you narrow down which results are relevant to you.

Also, I listed some other useful websites and resources in my previous response to this message.

    All the best,

    Emma

  • There is no record in St Peter's .....Id try St Mary's Drogheda which is on the southside of the Boyne.
