I am searching for the parents of my Great Great Grandfather John Gibson,  Born 12 October 1780 in or near the city of Cork in county Cork ,Parish of Youghal ,Ireland.

This information is from the papers of his discharge from the service of the 99th foot Regiment in Quebec Canada on 12 July 1818.  He began service at age 10 with the 49th foot Regiment

John Gibson married Julia Ann Orange in Goulbourn Township Carleton County Ontario Canada in 1825.

Any leads to John Gibson's mother and father would be greatly appreciated or direction on where to go in ireland for a search for his birth records

    This search is fairly well covered in ancestry.co.uk where a number of people have found links and connections.

     

    The missing data - where exactly in or near Youghal he might have been born is not there yet but that is probably because the records are not digitised and become freely accessible.

    The reocrds are in the St. Mary's Collegiate Chapel, also in University Collge Cork ( Special Collections) and also in the archives of the Church of Ireland.

    I see this post is old. but i may have the parents names if you do not. I too am a decendent of John Gibson.
