Hi Biddy,

I am an administrator with the Bailieborough & Shercock site, we are just getting up & running.   

As you can definitely place your family in Scotland, may I suggest that you go to Scotlandspeople.gov.uk site. it is pay per view, however I have found my family there and on some of the birth certificates, I was lucky enough to find the mothers place of birth which gave me the proof.

I am not too sure how long your family is in New Zealand & the best idea is to work back, one step at a time.  I have found that Ancestry has the  UK incoming passenger lists, whilst Findmypast has the UK outgoing lists, which may be more useful for you.

I do know Wedlocks in the Cootehill area, I am unsure how much of their family history they know, but I will find out, giv me a week or so.

Hopefully I have given you some direction.

I rang Jim Wedlock & he said that there is not too many Wedlocks in the country but that going back far enough, they are all related, unsure how you will tie them in but its worth a try.  His email is jimwedlock@hotmail.com
