Looking for information concerning James Daly. Born either 1749 or 1750 in Dublin. Father is Michael Daly (b. about 1730 Dublin). Brothers are Michael (b. 1757) and Lawrence (b.1760) all born in Dublin.
James was a graduate of Univ. College Dublin and left Ireland for the US in 1776 (to fight the British?).
Any information greatly appreciated.

Hi,
Thank you for your message.
Do you have a more specific place name in Dublin where the family may have originated from? Were they from Dublin City or somewhere in Dublin County? In order to find more information on the family you really do need to have a more specific location. Most Irish record sources- church records, land records, census records- are based on specific locations. Until you know a specific location within Ireland, preferably a parish or placename, it may be difficult to do anything more with these records.
If they were from Dublin City, you can see what Catholic records are available at the irishtimes website. However, the city of Dublin is divided into many Roman Catholic parishes so it may be hard to know which records you should be searching in without a placename. Here is the link to the irishtimes website:
For Church of Ireland records check http://ireland.anglican.org/about/42 and http://www.nationalarchives.ie/.
If you suspect that James may have fought for the British you should check the UK National Archives Army Personnel at the following link:

Thank you for your detailed and thoughtful message. I have no other information concerning where in Dublin the family lived. I have looked through some of your sources but have nothing additional. Continuing the search. Thank you again.
