Hello,
I have a Baptism for Patrick Donnell ( his name is O'Donnell but it could have been changed ). April 1836, St Michaels Parish, Limerick. Fathers name same as his, Mothers name Margaret Lahiff.
There is also a church marriage record (once again may not be him) Parish Loughill, Limerick. Husband Patrick, wife Ellen Crowe. Witnessed by Mortimer Enright & Bartholomew Cronin.
Patrick 25 & Ellen 22 left Plymouth for Perth WA on the vessel named 'Escort' in 1859. The record says they were from Limerick. They arrived in Perth WA December 1859. His occupation was listed as an Agricultural Labourer.
I'm not sure where the Ballyhahill fits in or the Parish Emlygrennan!
I would love to have any info of the family they left behind, parents, brothers & sisters. I'm sure there were many of those. haha
Patrick & Ellen settled in Greenough WA and had 7 children. They were
Thomas Patrick b. 1861 Greenough WA
Edward b.1863 Grenough WA
John Albert b1865 Greenough WA
Michael b1868 Greenough WA
Maurice b.1870 Greenough WA
Mary b.1872 Greenough, died 1876.
Catherine b.1875 Grealdton WA, died 1879
Thomas Patrick is my Great grandfather on my mothers side.
Ellen Crowe was born in 1840 in Cork, Ireland. Her parents were Edward & Mary both born in County Cork, Ireland.
Mary was christened on 27 Dec 1795 in Mallow Parish, Cork, Ireland.
Her parents were Henry & Elizabeth Weeks.
I know this is going to be difficult but thanks for trying.
Best Wishes,
Di Tate.

Di,
My James Sullivan was born in 1793 in Lisready Cripps, Loughill, Limerick. He married an Ann O'Donnell in about 1816. Lisready Cripps is just down the road from Ballyhahill. I believe church records would have been in Glin but unfortunately the earliest records for Glin don't exist any more. In 1823, my James and Ann and their 3 boys left for Canada. One of those sons married his first cousin, another Ann O'Donnell. Her marriage record says her parents were James O'Donnell and Mary Godfrey....thus making James brother to the original Ann. I think I have discovered James and Mary(Godfrey) O'Donnell in the Robertstown area. In 1853,widow Mary Godfrey O'Donnell emigrated with 5 of her 8 children to Sydney on the Blundell.
Anyway, one of the reasons I mention this O'Donnell family is because my branch was strong into family names and one of James and Ann's son's names is Maurice. I can't find any other Maurices in the Sullivan family so I think he might be named after an O'Donnell. So I have been keeping track of a few Maurices in the Loghill/Shanagolden area.
Maurice O'Donnell and Johanna Roche had a son Maurice about Jan 27, 1866 , Shanagolden
John O'Donnell and Mary Broderick had a son Maurice about Dec 6, 1865, Shanagolden
My James and Mary O'Donnell had a son Patrick O'Donnell born about Feb 6, 1829 in Limerick Co. I don't know what became of him.
I hope this helps, Rita

Hi Rita
Im so sorry it has taken me so long to reply. I have just come across your reply to me. :(
I will have to read this again to get it clear in my head.
I have my Patrick's Death Certificate, it says he died in November 1915 in Nabawah nea Geraldton in Western Australia. He was 85 years old, (That would make his birth year 1830) Parents not known. He was a farmer. He was born in Limerick, Ireland and had lived in Australia for 57 years. Patrick came to Australia with his wife Ellen nee Crowe. He was 25 & she was 22. They arrived on the vessel 'Escort' in 1859. Departure Port was Plymouth. Patrick's occupation was listed as an Agricultral Labourer.
They had 7 children. I thought his birthdate was 1836 but the death certificate makes it 1830. This could be your lost Patrick. Now, how to find out? I have heard of Shanagolden from another relative.
Where do you live Rita?
I am in Perth Western Australia.
Regards, Di.
