Seeking info on g-grandparents Martin King, b abt 1840 and Mary Burke b abt 1843. Martin was the son of John King/Ellen Kelly of Mace, Mary was the daughter of Thomas Burke and (I believe) Mary Coyne, of Dooyeher. They emigrated to the US as part of the Catholic Colonization efforts between the US and Carna Parish in 1880 to Graceville, MN.

Hi,
Thank you for your message.
Have you tried looking in Church records for information? Most Catholic records are held locally. One website which you may find helpful is the Irish Times where they give an overview of what records are available in specific parishes. For Moyrus parish follow this link:
For Church of Ireland records check http://ireland.anglican.org/about/42 and http://www.nationalarchives.ie/. The Anglican Record Project is has created an index to their records: http://ireland.anglican.org/cmsfiles/pdf/AboutUs/library/AngRecord/bunclodyunionindex.pdf
You could also try doing a search for them in Griffith?s Valuation. This is a property valuation survey that was carried out between 1848 and 1864. You can search this here:
http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/
Have you looked into their emigration much? Sometimes you can find more information in immigration records. For immigration records in the US check the National archives at the following link:
You could also try searching the 1901/1911 census records to see if you can find any family that may have remained in Ireland. Here is the link:
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/
Some other websites that you may find useful are:
The National Archives of Ireland http://www.nationalarchives.ie/genealogy1/genealogy-records/introduction/
The National Library of Ireland http://www.nli.ie/en/family-history-introduction.aspx

Hi Annie, I am researching a Thomas Burke of Moyrus Parish and his son, Coleman, b 1840. Is there any change your Mary Burke could be Coleman's sister? Coleman married Margaret King in 1865 in Roundstone. Margaret was the daughter of Patrick King (mother unknown at this point). Let me know if you have any information that may be helpful. Thanks, MinnIrish (a Minnesotan)

Hi MinnIrish
Sorry this response is so late. Unfortunately, I cannot say for sure whether or not my Mary Burke and your Coleman are related. They are certainly around the same age, but the only siblings I have for Mary are Edmund (b abt 1839), Thomas (b 1854) and Honor (b abt 1858). Thomas, I feel sure about, but haven't documented Edmund or Honor. But so far, no Coleman. So sorry. Ann

I don't know why I missed this but I am researching the Keogh family who were living in Roundstone and a cousin, Ann Keogh married a Festus King around 1855. Festus did not come to the states but Ann and her 4 children came to Windsor Locks, CT. Might you know this King family? We were in Roundstone last year and the parish Priest was no help and the cemetery consited of a bunch of rocks. The cemetery workers told us that the families were too poor to have headstones and so they just placed a rock where the departed had been buried. And now there is no one who know which rock is who. It was very disappointing to say the least.
