  • Hello,

I will be in Clonbullogue next Wednesday and will bring your query with me - let's hope we can find something.

Who has the connection to Clonbullogue - that's not clear from your information.

    regards

  • Clonbullogue ancestors - My Mother was born and raised there, emigrated to the US in 1958

Her father Michael - only child (Born in 1901 - can be found on the census link below)

    http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/King_s_Co_/Bracknagh/D…

was living with his father Thomas (The farthest I can go back in my family tree on the Donegan side) age 49 in 1901 who married Margaret O'Shea (who died shortly after the 1901 census)

If I can somehow go back further than the 49 year old Thomas Donegan (in 1901) - that would be GREAT!

Thomas and his son Michael and his Daugher (my mother) were all born and raised in Kings (Offaly) County, IRE

    Land Survery: Griffith's Valuation (1848-64) http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation

There are 32 Donegans in Griffiths Valuation - all the townlands are near to one another and in the vicinity of Clonbullogue so there's a good chance they are your ancestors - if you know where farm land is (still in the family?), the names can be matched to it and you can identify your gt-gt-grandfather:

    http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/index.xml?action=doNameSearch&familyname=donegan&firstname=&offset=0&countyname=KING\'S&parishname=&parishname&unionname=&baronyname=&totalrows=32&PlaceID=0&wildcard=

Another way to go is to contact the Offaly genealogy centre to see if there are any records - please let them know we sent you! The Irish Midlands (Counties Laois & Offaly) Ancestry service can be contacted here:<?xml:namespace prefix = o />

    http://www.irishmidlandsancestry.com/content/contact/contact_details.htm

    info@offalyhistory.com / Telephone + 353 (0)57 9321421.

Please note theirs is a chargeable service - there is a form on the website to complete and a first search costs ?10.
