I am looking for a RC church in or near Ballykiveen, Monard, County of Tipperary.

According to family belief, my great grandfather was born in this community. According to the 1901 and 1911 census he was born about 1867 or 1869.

He identified himself as RC on the census and he married in the RC church in Tipperary town.  To further complicate matters for us, his birth does not appear to have been officially registered.

So, I wish to identify the nearest RC church that would have been operational in the late 1860's in order to obtain a baptismal certificate.

Is there a site on the Internet that has this type of information? Or, better still, could you identify the nearest RC church(s).

There is a nearby church, St. Nicholas, Solhead, Solloghod-beg. But unfortunately, it was constructed during the 1870s into the 1880s.

Bye the way, this site is a great idea.

As a genealogist  born near Ballykiveen, the nearest RC churches are Cappawhite (Toem parish) , followed by Oola and Doon.(County Limerick) I can do a exploratory look and a more in depth timed based search if you desire.  Seamus @ foxseamus@gmail.com
