Hi,
Thank you for your message.
Have you tried looking in Church records for George?s birth records as proof that he came from there? Up until c. 1816, Methodists in Ireland usually had dual membership as both Methodists and also members of the parish church. As the Church of Ireland was the official church of the country these are the registers that that you should be looking at in terms of births, marriages and deaths.
For information on Church of Ireland registers check http://ireland.anglican.org/about/42 and http://www.nationalarchives.ie/.

Have you already tried checking for records online? If you have not, you can search at Family Search, which has a huge database of genealogical records at www.familysearch.org
There is also www.rootsireland.ie , however please note that you have to pay to view the records on this website.
