Hi,
I am searching for a relative named Mary Ryan who was born somewhere between 1925 and 1930. I was told she lived in Pallas Green in the 1950's, so I would also be interested in her genealogy.
I am new at doing genealogy so hope I am asking the right questions.
Thank you everyone for any help and ideas you can offer!

Hi Margaret,
Thank you for your message and welcome to the website!
You may be able to find some information on Mary in civil registration records. If you can find her birth record in these registers it will give you the following information:
? Date of birth
? Place of birth
? Father?s name and address
? Mother?s name and maiden name
? Father?s occupation
Civil records are available from the General Register?s Office in Dublin. Here is their website:

You can search the indexes to these records here:

Once you have Mary?s parents? names you could try searching for them in the 1901/1911 census records. These records can give lots of useful information and can be searched online here:

Some other websites that you may find useful as you begin your search are:
The National Archives of Ireland http://www.nationalarchives.ie/genealogy1/genealogy-records/introduction/

As Mary was living in Pallas Green within living memory, perhaps it may also be an idea to post a message in a more local forum such as a local newspaper in the hope that someone who remembers her or her family will see it and make a connection with you. Some possible places you could do this are:
Limerick Post: http://www.limerickpost.ie/
Limerick Leader: http://www.limerickleader.ie/
I hope that this is helpful and that some of these links help you get started in your research.
Please be patient - as our programme has only begun to rollout across the island of Ireland and volunteers in some areas may not yet be organized.
Kind regards,
