Hi,  I posted earlier and didn't realize that Antrim was actually what I was looking for.

From Ancestry.com I found a applicantion from "Sons of the American Revolution" that William McGaughy was born in 1695 in Antrim and died in York, Pennsylvania 1750.  Also found a will from Jan 5, 1749.

Surely, the McGaughy line didn't just pop into existence. lol

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,

    Thank you for your message.

Do you have a more specific place of origin in Antrim for William? Most Irish record sources are based on specific locations such as a parish, so it may be difficult to find information on him without this.

Also, 1695, is very early. The reality of finding documentation pertaining to births/baptisms/marriages/deaths in Ireland prior to 1800 ? particularly in rural areas ? is that they simply may not exist.

It may be a good idea to contact the Ulster Historical Foundation for some assistance and advice. However, a fee may apply for their services. Here are their contact details:

Hopefully someone who has been researching the same family lines may also make a connection with you on the message boards here. You could also try posting this message on the County Antrim page to see if you can get some more advice there.

    Kind regards,
