Do you know roughly when Mary and James were born? If it was after 1864 you should be able to find their birth record in civil registration records. These are available from the General Register?s Office in Dublin. Here is their website: http://www.groireland.ie/research.htm

As civil registration only began in 1864, if they were born before this date you will need to look at Church records for their birth certs. Most Catholic records are still held locally so you may need to write to the local parish priest for possible assistance. One website which you may find useful is the Irish Times where they give an overview of what records are available in specific parishes. Assuming that they were born in Kildare parish, Co. Kildare, follow this link ot see what records are available there:

I am new to Ireland Reaching Out and have just volunteered to look after the Kildare Town parish page so I will be gathering information for the site and posting some useful links over the coming days and weeks.

In the meantime I might be able to help if you have any further details relating to your ancestors.  Such as date and place of birth for James Kelly and Mary Holden.  Perhaps their date and place of marriage?  Or dates of death.  And regarding your grandfather August Mansell, can you confirm his full name and date of birth?  I've had a quick look on the census and cannot find them so would need further details to identify them and take the research further.
