Peter Commins

Hi,

There is a BRIDGET COMMINS in Liscannor, Co Clare (Kilmacrehy Parish) in the Griffith's Valuation in 1855.  See: http://www.clarelibrary.ie/eolas/coclare/genealogy/griffiths/griffithc4.htm

There is also two Peter Commins in the 1901 census (Father and Son) in Corbeha townland, Feakle Parish.

If the naming pattern held true, this could be the family or relations of the family remaining.

These other names may be related: (O) Commane, Commons, Comyn which are all names found in Munster province and Co Clare.

There is a Peter Comyns who is a landholder on acreage my family farmed in Galway.  If you would be interested in more specifics, i'm happy to forward (Sorry:: i am not at home at the moment!).

Thanks for your offer of providing me with information about Peter Comyns.  My Great Granfather (Peter's son) is from Clare, but the rest of the Cummings' that settled in Wilmington, DE, USA are from Galway.  I've corresponded with a relative of the Galway Cummings' but we haven't been able to make a connection.  I'm on Ancestry.com and will look into the Comyn's thread.

  It has been a long time since you posted this question, but I hope my note reaches you. 

   My grandfather is Joseph Cummings of Wilmington, DE. His father was James Cummings, the son of Peter Cummings and Ellen Lynch. 

   Did you find any more information on Peter and Ellen? I found an Irish Registry from 1876 which indicates that Peter Cummings and Ellen Lynch from Corbeha, County Clare had a son Peter in January, 1876. 

   You mention that the other Cummings' who settled in Wilmington, DE were from County Galway. I don't have any information on that.
