Hi Trish,
Thank you for your message.
Unfortunately, there are 3 different Kilmurray parishes in Clare:
So this widens your search a bit.
You could try looking for information on the family in Church records. You may be able to find Michael and Bridget?s marriage records, or possibly even their birth records if the church records in the area start early enough (which unfortunately, is not often the case).
Most Catholic records are held locally so you may need to write to the local parish priest for possible assistance. One website that you may find useful is the Irish Times where they give an overview of what records are available in specific parishes.
For Kilmurry Ibricken parish, follow this link:
For Kilmurry in the Barony of Clonderalaw:
For Kilmurry in Bunratty (which is part of the Catholic parish of Sixmilebridge):
For information on Church of Ireland records check: http://ireland.anglican.org/about/42 and http://www.nationalarchives.ie/.
There are also some church records available online, although no collections are complete, at www.familysearch.org and www.rootsireland.ie Please note that yo uhave to pay to use Roots Ireland.
You could also check for record of the family in the land acts pertaining to Ireland in the 19th century. There are two:
The Tithe Applotment Books (1823-1838) found at http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/home.jsp
and Griffith?s Valuation (1848-1864) found at http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/
Some other websites that may be helpful are:
The National Archives of Ireland http://www.nationalarchives.ie/genealogy1/genealogy-records/introduction/
The National Library of Ireland http://www.nli.ie/en/family-history-introduction.aspx
The National Archives UK ? genealogy search: http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/records/looking-for-person/
The Public Records Office of Northern Ireland http://www.proni.gov.uk/index/family_history.htm
Genealogy Links: http://www.genealogylinks.net/uk/ireland/clare/index.html
It may also be an idea to contact the County Clare library as they have a very good local studies department that may be able to give you some more advice or assistance.
http://www.clarelibrary.ie/eolas/library/local-studies/locstudi1.htm
Alternatively you could contact Clare Heritage Centre, however a fee may apply.
I hope that some of this is helpful. Please be patient - as our programme has only begun to rollout across the island of Ireland and volunteers in some areas may not yet be organized.
Kind regards,

Hi Trish,
Hope you are still looking for McGannons. I am also researching the McGannon name. My ancestors came from County Clare from Quilty, Kildyrast, Carrowreagh West. My 1st record starts about 1837. I do have a Bridget in the family, but she was born in 1872. Having the same name makes me hope their is a connection. Please check out my website and see if you can find any connection: www.maureenmalloy.com/genealogy/
