Searching for the Berry (or Barry) brothers. They were stonemasons in Ireland and emigrated by ship to the U.S. probably in the late 1700s.  One of the brothers died during the crossing and was buried at sea. These were the only members of the Berry/Barry family who emigrated.

Thanks!!

  • Hi there,

Go to rootsireland.ie and put in the surname Berry.  You will get some hits with this, but unfortunately if you haven't a first name or even which county they came from then it will be an uphill struggle. Catholic BMD records really only started around 1800 (some as late as 1830). Protestant records go back further than that, but you really need more information if this search is to prove successful.    I hope you can get some more information.  have you looked at passenger lists or port of arrival records?

    Regards,

    Anne

  • Where are your Berry's/Barry's from? My GGrandmother from Kilsallagh is Ellen Barry/Berry b 1871 who married Austin  Gavin b 1872. Any relation?
