My ancestor James Tisdale, born about 1800-1805 married Jane who was possibly a Bryan or a Brady. They may or may not have lived in the city of Cavan.  They had children:  James Tisdale Jr., George Tisdale, possibly Joseph Tisdale, John Tisdale, Ann Tisdale, all of whom were born roughly in the 1830s.  They immigrated to Ontario, Canada about 1848, where they lived in Huron County, Ontario and some branches moved to the United States in North Dakota, Minnesota, Michigan, Montana, Washington and California.

I would like to find what parish they were in and whether or not there are still families with this surname living in Cavan.  I suspect by name that the Tisdales were from Scotland or England originally, but I don't know.

    Hi,

    Thank you for your message.

I also responded to your post about the Tisdales on the Kilmore parish page. I would suggest that Kilmore may be your best possible lead due to the fact that there are Tisdalls recorded there in Griffith?s Valuation.I gave you some links and suggestions on how to follow up with this in my earlier response. Here is a link to that message:
