I am the daughter of James Joseph Larkin of New York b. 1925. He was the son of Joseph Francis Larkin b. 1880 in Chicago, Illinois. He was the son of James Vincent Larkin born in Killimor about 1863 (m. Mariah Curley b. 1861 in Kiltormer), and he was the son of Patrick Larkin b. about 1831 in Galway. My father went to Killimor in the 1970s and his cousin, Frankie Fitzpatrick owned the "family" home which was an old structure called "Curleys" at the time (I remember seeing a photo). I hear that since then, the house was demolished and there is a car lot on the spot. I would like to know more about the Larkins and Curleys who lived there before moving to the United States in about 1880.

Hi all! Since my post in 2013 I have visited Killimor twice and met Seamus Curley (and other cousins) with the help of local genealogist Martin Curley who manages a Facebook page called “Soghain Genes” where you can find out more about Seamus.
For records, you should contact the East Galway Family History Society on their Facebook page, or via their website www.galwayroots.com. They are great researchers and found many Killimor and other local records for me that I couldn’t find on my own.
I hope this helps!

Yes Wanted to join chat. Visited w/Seamus Curley in Kiltormer in 1998 as part of my search for information on my grandfather Michael O’Callaghan b. 1876 in Kiltormer & moving to Nenagh where he met & married my grandmother Bridget Delia Lutteral in 1900. Also wanted info on his father Michael Callahan (Calahan) 1821-1903 & his mother Maria Berrane b. 1844 & his siblings. Also the Calahan greatgrandfather b. Eyrecourt.
Another part of story of marriage of Maureen O’Callaghan b. 1915 (1st of my father James Kiernan O’Callaghan b.1911), to John Joseph O’Halloran in Kiltormer.
Any information or conversation are most appreciated.

Hello, and Help?
I've been doing research on the Peter and Ellenora McCormick Larkin family. Two of Peter's and Ellen's sons: Michael, born about 1841, married Julia Muldoon, and Patrick, born about 1843, married Bridget Head of Killimor (father was Martin Head and mother was Catherine Coen). The two sons came to the U.S. in the mid-1850s, not sure if they married beforehand, and settled in Yonkers, Westchester County, NY, where they raised their respective families.
I'm trying to find exactly where Peter and Ellenora were from. I've found a baptismal record for an Ellenora McCormick, 1806, from Ballygar. Could be her? but I cannot find boo about Peter other than Tithe Applotments in Killeenadeema and Tynagh, and Griffith's Valuations in Killinny, Killeenavara, Ballynakill, and Clonfert - and there's no real way to know if any of these Peter's are my Peter.
Killimor keeps popping up peripherally with the names of sponsors in the records that I recognize...but I don't want to assume.
I've done quite thorough research through all the available resources, including the parish registers, online databases, etc., etc., and reached out to the East Galway Family History Society as well with no luck, so I thought I'd try and see if there's anyone with local knowledge of the Larkin family in the Killimor area whose brain I could pick?
Any thoughts or suggestions are gratefully received,
Andrea Aven
