A member of the family had done some research on Susanna McIlveen and has now passed on the following information (though no sources provided)

I wonder whether the headstones are still there in the cemeteries.

Susanna McIlveen (correct spelling) was daughter to Robert McIlveen (farmer) , birthdate unknown, but he died 1862 at Killeny House and is buried at Old Annaclone Cemetery with a headstone. He married Elizabeth Butt,  buried with her husband.

Susanna was 2nd child to Robert and Elizabeth born 19/2/1822 at Dromara. She married John Wallace in 2nd November 1848. John Wallace was born 1818.  He was a commercial traveller for a brewery.   He died  18/6/1854 and is buried in Magherally with headstone. Susanna may be buried with him? There were 2 children to that marriage,   Anna Wallace born 27/9/1849 and George Wallace born 17/6/1851,

2nd marriage was to John Ashwood on 1/5/1855.

Children were:     Jamison Ashwood born 29/12/1855 at Cobh (Cork) Queenstown Ireland:     John Francis Ashwood born 4/11/1857 at Kingston,  Dun Loghaire, Dublin Ireland;     Margaret Ashwood born 20/12/1860 at Lismore, Waterford County Ireland.

  • Hi Jeanette,

Thank you very much for your message and for sharing this information on the Ireland reaching Out message board.

I hope that someone who is researching the same family makes a connection with you to share information.

Please be patient - as our programme has only begun to rollout across the island of Ireland and volunteers in some areas may not yet be organized.

    Kind regards,
