I have traced my dads line back to 1866 when his father, Patrick HAYDEN was born to
Michael Hayden & Judith (or Johanna) Cashin and baptised on March 16, 1866 at Urlingford.
Michael HAYDEN was a baker and died when he was just 38 years of age.
Now though, I am STUCK!! I cannot trace the parents, grandparents or siblings of Michael HAYDEN and am desperate for some help.
I've tried everything I know, even waiting an age and paying to read a LDS film which told me nothing I did not already know.
If you can help me I will be forever grateful.
Thanks for reading

Hi GrannyG,
There are three parishes where both HAYDEN and CASHIN households are found during the 1849/1850 Griffith's Valuation of Kilkenny County:
- CALLAN civil parish with 5 HAYDEN households and 1 CASHIN household
- KILLAMERY civil parish with 1 HAYDEN household and 2 CASHIN households
- KILMAGANNY civil parish with 1 HAYDEN household and 2 CASHIN households
In CALLAN Civil parish, the churches are located:
- Callan town, Green street (Roman Catholic), Mill Street (Established Church w/graveyard) and also RC Friary
IN KILLAMERY civil parish, the churches are located:
- Killamery Townland (Established church and graveyard)
- Meallaghmore Upper Townland (Roman Catholic Church and graveyard)
- Oldcastle Lower Townland (graveyard only)
- Rossaneny (Reade) Townland (graveyard only)
In KILMAGANNY civil parish, the churches are located:
- Kilmaganny town, Chapel Street (Roman Catholic church & graveyard)
- Kilmaganny town, Church Street (Established Church & graveyard).
There is also a civil parish of URLINGFORD with a graveyard located on an island and a Roman Catholic Church in the Town of Urlingford on Main Street.
Normally, the marriage would take place in the parish of the BRIDE and then the married couple usually resided in the town/townland of the BRIDEGROOM. In some cases the residence would be where the BRIDE was from, in cases where the BRIDE's or her family's home became the new couples residence. In other cases the new couple resided in a town/townland elsewhere, where there was a farm/farmhouse available to lease/own within their means.
I would suggest you review the church records filmed in the three parishes I named above as you may hit paydirt there.
Since the marriage was after 1864, you really should get the marriage record. If you have done this already, please advise the father's names of the two spouses, their occupations and places of residence and I will review again.
Thank you,
James McNamara
