Thanks for the responses.  We pursued a possible  Irwin (Annagh) cionnectuion several years ago, but they didn't claim us.  There was, however, a Jeremiah Irvine at Ballygrace in the Griffiths Valuation snd the Heritage Cenre has baptismal records for five of his seven children, mostly lising Ballygrace as their homeplace.  Jeremiah's wife was Ellen Gorman and there are Gorman relatives still in and near Buttevent (Peggy Thornhill and the Johnson/Madigans).  I hope to see them on Thursday or Friday Sept 19/20 and had some hope that Noel Leniahn, who greeted the last cousin to visit,  might be around.

I know quite a bit a\bout the Erwins' adventures in the States and would be happy to bring/send a summary if collecting such is part of your mission.

  • I expect to be in Churchtown on Thursday, Sept.19 or the next day, the 20th.  Noel can probably contact me through my very, very distant cousin, Michael Johnson

  • This a long shot, however, I am looking for the Gorman family from Charleville.  James Gorman 1800 and Johanna Kirby 1810 had seven children in Ireland and two in Lancashire, one of whom was my great grandfather.

They had two girls named Ellen, one born 1840 the other, born 1847, married a Moses Kenny, they moved to Nebraska.

I would be interested to know if Ellen born 1840 is the same Ellen Gorman you are connected with.

    Very best regards,

  • i'll keep my fingers crossed.  However, with a name like Gorman, with or without the O' , the possibilities are endless - on my father's side has one side from Wales with the unusual name of Jones !!!  Brick wall after Brick wall there.

It is good of you to help.
