Our Thomas Gorman came from Dromore Tyrone (I believe that is Dromore Parish but that is not a selcection on the Tyrone list) to St. John NB Canada in or around 1836, with his wife Ann/Nancy McQuaid, and quite probably with brother/relative Patrick and his wife Ellen. It is also quite possible that two other Gorman's that wound up in St. John - John & James - are also relatives. There are lots of cross references in the godparents and sponsors.

Paul:
Not sure why there is no parish listing for Dromore civil parish.
I looked at the 1859 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Dromore civil parish and there are a number of Gorman and McQuaid records still in the area.

The Mormon Church microfilmed the RC records for Dromore RC parish. The records begin in 1835 so possibly Thomas and Ann had already married. The film can be ordered online at www.familysearch.org and viewed at a local Family History Center.

I was also looking for Dromore parish Tyrone. My McQuaid family comes from Tummery, Dromore. I do not have a Gorman on my known tree, but I have 27 links to DNA hits, on Ancestry.com DNA, with the Gorman line in them. There are 42 Gorman's on the PARISH of DROMORE ROMAN CATHOLIC BAPTISMS. See: http://www.cotyroneireland.com/churchrecord/dromore_rc_baptisms.html.
There is a James Gorman in LETTERGASH, on the Griffith Val. Lettergash boarders Tummery.

I likely saw your message but assumed you were telling Neale and TTMcQuaid that you also have Gorman/Quaid connections.
I will look to see if I can find any information.

Jay:
Roots Ireland. Www.rootsireland.ie has an 1868 civil birth record for a Margaret Gorman in the Omagh registrars district. Roots is a pay site to view the transcription of the civil record. I have no idea if this is your relative or another Margaret Gorman. I looked for a Margaret Gorman marriage in Co. Tyrone from 1888-1892 and did not locate a record.

There were Gormans and Quaids in Limerick too - not just Tyrone so you might want to search in other areas too:)
