Tracing my irish family tree found in the 1901 census
Residents of a house 172 leeson park avenue (rathmines and rathgar east dublin)
surname age sex relation to head religion birthplace occupation marial status
kelly mary 6 female grand child r.catholic dublin scholar not married
Greeg maria 49 female head of family church of ireland monaghan private income widow
murphy anne 50 female sevant r.catholic wicklow general servant married
murphy john 51 male husband r.catholic dublin stable man married
murphy michael 14 male son r .catholic dublin scholar not married
murphy thomas 11 male son r.catholic dublin scholar not married
murphy patrick 19 male son r.catholic dublin van driver not married
now it seems maria greeg died in 1904.leaving all her money to her son
also john murphy died leaving anne murphy a widow
in the 1911 census will show.also that john murphy and anne murphy had more sons.
because of the death of maria greeg, the murphy family had to find a new home
1911 census
residents of a house 1.2 in westmoreland park 9rathmines and rathgar east dublin.
surname forname age sex relation to head of family religion birthplace occupation marital status
murphy peter 39 male son r.catholic dublin grocer porter single
murphy paddy( patrick)28 male son r.catholic dublin general labourer single
murphy thomas 21 male son r.catholic dublin grocer porter single
murphy ann 60 female head of family r.catholic dublin daley worker widow
kelly ginney 16 female grand daughter r .catholic dublin school single
murphy dick 16 male grand son r.catholic dublin messenger boy single
murphy mary 14 female grand daughter r.catholic dublin school single
murphy peter 8 male grandson r.catholic dublin school single
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
now two of the sons of john murphy and ann murphy never married
peter murphy born 1872
patrick murphy born 1883
thomas murphy married mary ann duffy in 1921
leaving just michael murphy born 1887
so the grand children murphy dick.murphy mary.murphy peter could not be michael murphy children he was far to young
so as his family say john murphy and ann murphy had at least 7 children and one daughter not in the census.
ann murphy born 1851
so when peter murphy was born in 1872 ann murphy would have been 21 years old
gap of 10 years
patrick murphy was born in 1882 ann murphy would have been 31 years old
gap of 5 years
michael murphy was born in 1887 ann murphy would have been 36 years old
gap of 3 years
thomas murphy was born in 1890 ann murphy would have been 39 years old
so there was time for more children
can we find these children thomas murphy was baptized at leeson park avenue?
can we find john and ann murphy marraige date.
can we find john murphy father and mother
also it seems that john murphy was a stable man in trinity college
his son thomas murphy born 1890. who died in 1937 was working in trinity college
thomas murphy son patrick francis murphy born 1926 worked in trinity college until he retired in 1991,

Hi Bob,
Thank you for your email. I hope that someone with information on the family makes a connection with you through the message boards.
With regards to finding birth/marriage records as these events occurred after 1864 they would have been recorded in civil records as civil registration became mandatory in Ireland in 1864. Civil records are available from the General Register?s Office. Here are their contact details:
