I am looking for information on Judith McEntee who married James Duffy in 1875, They had a son Bernard who married Bridget Myles (miles) whose parents were James Myles and Mary Murtagh (Murtha). I would like some information on them and Bridget also as I can find nothing about them anywhere. I know they were in Cavan and Kingscourt and Ballieborough keep coming up in the documents I have. Any help appreciated. thanks

Hi Rosemary,
There is a record of the marriage of James Duffy and Judith McEntee on rootsireland.ie. It should have parents' names and the parish on it.
There are only 2 baptism records for Judith McEntee born in Cavan on www.rootsireland.ie
1 is 1819 and the other 1840. I checked the parish of each and they are both Kingscourt R C.
I couldn't find a record for for the marriage of James Myles and Mary Murtagh.
There is a record on rootsireland for Bernard Duffy & Bridget Miles - 1875 Cavan - parish is Kingscourt.
There are 2 records of Bridget Miles baptisms in Cavan 1843 & 1852.
On the Tithe Applotments (1823-37 & free to search) in Cavan there are 14 McEntees, 6 Miles and 54 Duffys.

Hi Rosemary,
I have looked up the Census 1901 & if you look at the families in DED Shercock & Knappagh, they may be your Myles family & there is one spelling it Miles http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/results.jsp?census_year=19…
There are still at least one family of this name in Shercock & I will try & get their details.
I looked up Murtha & found these
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/results.jsp?census_year=19…
DED of Taghart, Knappagh, Cootehill & Coroneary would not be too far from the Myles/Miles families 7 as we did not travel too far to marry then, it is most likely they were neighbours.
The spelling of Murtagh produced these results & this spelling is the form used mainly today & they are mainly in Kingscourt
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/results.jsp?census_year=19…
There are quite a few famililies of this name still around.
Now you say the towns keep coming up in your documents, what about townlands, these are names of places in and around towns, which would be most likely civil parishes. If you wish to scan these documents, I will look at them & see can I recognise the names, writing can be indecipherable unless you have a few clues.
Civil registration records are available from the General Register Office (GRO). These start from 1864. You can access the website here:http://www.groireland.ie/research.htm

Thanks, did that, think it must be the one. but now I need to check on the census of 1821 and 1841 to see if its the correct family as no parents names on marriage cert but are Eugene and Ann on birth certificate.
