Patrick Flanigan (Flanagan)(22yrs)(Labourer) married Catherine Dunworth (Dunford)(20yrs)(Spinster) 10/03/1866 in Roman Catholic Cathedral of St Johns in the Union of Limerick in the County of the City of Limerick.
Both Catherine and Patrick resided in Ardagh at the time of their marriage.
Patrick Flanagan's father was Michael Flanagan (Labourer)and Patrick was possibly born in 1844/45 in Limerick.
Catherine Dunworth's father was William Dunworth (labourer)and Margaret Kennedy and Catherine was born in 1846/47 in Newcastle, Limerick Ireland.
They sailed to Australia on the John Temperley and arrived September 1867 in Victoria Australia and had 13 children in Colac.
I have checked Griffiths and found a Michael Flanagan tenanting land in 1852 which I had previously known but unsure if he is Patrick's father and of when he died or was born. Thank you for directing me there to reconfirm that.
As Patrick and Catherine emigrated in 1867 I am sure those listed in your prompt reply are not their children but some relatives in the area. Any more information on them?
I am sure that Patrick and Catherine lived in the Ardagh area at the time of their marriage but family stories have always said that the Flanagan family originally came from Clare. Dunworth is also an unusual name in that area.
I am grateful for any guidance as to Flanagans and Dunworth families Ardagh at the time of their marriage and also in Newcastle, Limerick.
Thanks again for all your help!
Regards
Sue
