hi monty21
i found a birth record index for hugh mcteague 1838 county derry. only one in that range. i found a james mcteague in 1859 griffiths valuation disart/dysart tract #19 was turned over to a patrick in 1882 and i believe i found death record for a sarah in 1882. i found a hugh mcteague in griffiths valuation 1859 in cloughfin tract 10Cb which was only a house. the owner of tract 10ABCa was henry mallon. very well could be mary Mellan's father as it would make sense to let your son in law and daughter live in a house on your property. patrick son of james was in the 1901 and 1911 census, and i found a headstone at at columbs in straw of a james with father patrick that i believe matches the patrick on tract #19. the death record of the sarah in 1882 and patrick taking the land from james in 1882 is a possible connection to the james & sarah you are looking for. the henry mallon turns his tracts over to a francis in 1890. then hugh turns ouer the house to the francis in 1903 but hugh is not in the 1901 census. the turn over could have happened earlier prior to the census and the next revision to the valuation was 1903. i found 4-5 birth records for hugh and mary's children. a death record for mary mcteague in 1870. no record of marriage for hugh and margaret conner but i did find record of maybe 8 children. the patrick son of james could be a brother to hugh. patrick in the 1901 census has a sister issabell kelly living with him this could be a sister to hugh. do you have any other information? email me at gal522@cfaith.com and i will put everything i have together and a list of wbsites i used. the birth record is an index of an index of a church record you have to pay /buy credits to view the complete indexed record the record does not list ballinascreen as parish of birth but that does not necessarily mean anything. granddaughter is crying email me

Hi Joe, im still no further forward, i gave up for a few years as just spending a fortune on stuff i already have. I started again as i think a found another brother of Hugh 1830/1835.. Ive wrote to loads of McTeagues who are still in Ballynascreen but to no avail, i wrote to a Mullen/Mellon and he wrote back he was indeed connected in some way, he gave me his phone no, but everytime i phoned it either rang out or he was busy, ive since found out he died, so back to square one, your expertise would help me, in telling me what im doing wrong or am i on the wrong trail, Thanks again Traci Montagueo

hi traci
still looking occasionally have not found anything new on my family in a couple years. sometimes we are not doing anything wrong the records are just not there.
mot in montama yet purchased 8 acres in corvallis montana this past july hopefully build and be there in 2 years. wery south western corner of montana bitterroot valley between the pitterroot and the saphire mt ranges
the site was rootsireland.ie they cost money
you could always look at billmacafee.com he has a very helpful site esp griffiths valuation field books. valuations happened continually from 1859 to 1930 one site only shows the inital valuation. the link on bills site is only for northern ireland counties but you can see who the renter and ultametly owner of land was (irish were allowed to purchase the plot they were on around 1920 the records list the persons "in fee" meaning they owned it. their are about 6 volumes covering about 15 years for each townland. the valuers used colored pencils to identify changes ie a name would be crossed out then above it in red or blue or green pencil would be the name of the next renter (left hand) and in very (right hand) the year that the change occured in the corresponding colored pencil. so woy could follow . sometimes a plot had no changes, sometimes their would be 5 changes in that one volume.
you find the townland, get the earliest volume in the front of volume an index by townland tells you what page the townland starts on it goes by plot number.
i am kinda retired now if their is anything you specifically want me to look at i remember vaigly what we found but that was years ago. but give me the info we started with and what you trying to connect now and i will see what i can come up with.
ancrestry now has the irish catholic church registers i have gone through them page by page very laborous but i have gotten a couple of things.
like i said sometimes thr records just arent there. i have a total picture of my familybut i cant get further back than birth of what i believe 1st son in 1859. no marriage of his parents or parents family nothing been looking 30 years some stuff just not there ???????????????.
so you can either contact thru this site or thru personal email your choice
