I am trying to find our where in Ireland my Grand father came from.  He was William Pendle, and he came over to South Africa just after he served in the royal airforce in world war 2

    Pendle is not a common Irish name. www.familysearch.org shows only two William Pendle entris. July/ September 1908 a William Pendle's birth is registered in Dublin South. In 1877 a William Pendle's birth is registered in Rathdown (quite close to Dublin South).

    The 1908 birth would leave him aged 31 at the commencement of the war. This may be a link?
