Thomas Lynch born c1820 married to Bridget Churchill born c1820-4 in Bournea parish c 1836-1840
Both probably born in Bournea parish.
Enlisted in Army in Dublin 1842 and thence to New Zealand, all children born in New Zealand.
His death cert in NZ shows his parents as Joseph Lynch and Hannah Brewer
Bridget's parents as John Churchill and Mary Keiler
I have found two RC chapels in Bournea parish - but cannot find dates for the registers, nor where they can be accessed. I would like to find if his marriage is in either chapel and possible any siblings baptisms or even parents marriages.
I live in Portrush Co Antrim, and would be willing to do lookups in this area in exchange.
Many Thanks

Hi David
We are having our next meeting of Bournea Reaching Out on the 7th of Jan. We will discuss your post then and see can we find any information for you at local level. As it is in the 1820-40 it is going to be difficult, but you never know?

Tim - anything from the discussion of the Bourney Reaching meeting ?
I would also like to know the commencement dates of the two Bourney/Bournea churches for births, marriages and deaths.
Are there any transcriptions of the graveyards here which might help me ?

Hello David
Sorry for the delay in responding to your post.
We discussed your post at the last meeting without success.
Bourney; Church of Ireland marriages 1845-1911. Civil Registration in Districts Births/Marriages/Deaths 1864-1911. Couraguneen RC (Bournea) 1836- 1880 missing 1873 this includes Clonakenny records.
Graveyards in C of I church Bourney, RC Church in Clonakenny, Couraguneen old & new RC Churches, Quaker graveyard in Ballykelly townland, Lloyds private graveyard and Bawnadrum burial place.
The dates for the registers and graveyard above can be accessed on a pay for view site www.rootsireland.ie
We are hoping to get the graveyard records up on line, this is a project for our group in the future; they would include the above graveyards
I have looked up Lynch & Churchill in the Tithe Applotments book of c1820s, the Griffiths valuation c1850s and the Census 1901-1911 in the Bournea/Bourney parish without success. You can check these sites by going to Townlands page on our Bournea home page.
I have also asked a local person that might know but he hasn?t got back to me yet. We are having another meeting on the 4th of February and we will discuss it again. It could take awhile to sort it out but we will keep trying.
Sorry I don?t have any good news for you at this point but you never know what will turn up.
