I am trying to locate information on a William McCullagh born about 1775, He was the father of a James McCullagh who was the father of William Torrens McCullagh andWilliam McCullagh whose family with the exception of their first born, Margaret came to Australia in the 1800s.. He was married to Sarah Armstrong and their children were Margaret, William, George, Sarah Charlotte and Elizabeth. '
I am at a dead end and cannot get any further with this line. Any help would be appreciated.

There is a baptism record of William McCULLOAGH 1780 in Sligo on www.rootsireland.ie
There is also a James McCullagh with father William 1803 in Limerick.
The Tithe Applotments has only 1 William McCullagh 1828 but he's in Queen's county (Offaly)
www.irishgenealogy has some William McCullaghs baptised aroud 1775 but in Dublin.
There are a couple of public member trees on ancestry that mention McCulloughs in Redfern and Mudgee - is there any connection?

Hi Col,
Will check out the new information. Thanks for that. My ancestors went to Victoria and I have found all that came out here. I did think for some reason that William was from Dublin, but maybe Sligo is an option. It is so hard to work it out. I wonder if I can get a death certificate from Ireland for William McCullagh the son and whether they show the parents on it like they do here.
