Hello , i was wondering if there was anyone out there who could help me with my family tree. The families that i am looking for are Michael Sloan who's father was called Denis according to his marrige cert and Catherine Grecey/ Greacy and her father was called charles. Michael and Catherine were married in 1869 in Newry and Catherine lived in the parish of Shanroe so if anyone has any info on their families please get in touch . Thank you Pauline.

Pauline,
What are the bride & grooms townlands on the marriage certificate? That should make it easier to trace them.

Pauline,
Shanroe is the townland where they both lived (590 acres). (The parish is Forkhill).
I looked in the Revaluation records to see if I could locate either family. (Generally with farmers they are listed). However on this occasion I could not find either family. Perhaps they weren?t there very long. The only link I can see is this Probate reference for James Gracey who died intestate:
Full Abstract :
Administration of the estate of James Gracey late of Glebe Shanroe County Armagh Farmer who died 25 June 1897 at Newry County Down granted at Armagh to Mary Gracey the Widow. Effects ?26
This might be Mary Gracey, the widow, in 1901:

There?s no Sloan or Gracey families in Shanroe in the 1901 census.

Thank you Elwyn for your time, i know my Sloan's came to Barrow-in-Furness in about 1878 so i think you are right they might have only been there a little while, the search goes on.

Hi peterbernardc , I am interested in your Gracey info.
My Great Grandmother born about 1866 was a Catherine Gracey daughter of James & Mary Gracey.
She married Thomas Bernard Madden in Belfast in 1887.
They had 2 children in Belfast before moving to Liverpool where they had 10 other children.
Catherine returned to Belfast before 1911 where she lived until her death in 1929.
I have quite a few Maddens born in Barrow-in-Furness including a Peter & a Bernard.
